Your holiday home in Modbury, South Devon
Tuckers Brook House is a 4-bedroom self-catering holiday home in the historic market town of Modbury, nestled among the rolling fields of the South Hams countryside in South Devon.
There are shops, restaurants, walks and footpaths right from the doorstep. You’re only a short drive from the beach, Dartmoor National Park, and a wide range of days out and attractions for all ages.
A quiet location in the heart of the village

The house is in a very quiet street, yet it is just 2 minutes walk from Modbury’s thriving high street. There’s a Co-op for all the essentials, gift shops, a delicatessen, butcher, plus several cafes and traditional country pubs serving home cooked food.
For children, there are three playgrounds in the village, including a small one at the bottom of the road. The playground at Modbury Memorial Hall is brand new, having been modernised and rebuilt in 2021. The smaller playground at Champerknowne was rebuilt in 2020.
Modbury also has a Recreation Ground with tennis courts, basketball courts, skate ramps, football pitches, an outdoor exercise course, and indoor activities such as yoga.
At the bottom of the road, a bridge over a small stream takes you to a meadow and open fields, with a network of footpaths which are perfect for dog walks.
Close to moor and sea

One of the best things about holidaying in Modbury is that it is equally close to both the South Devon coastline and Dartmoor National Park.
Within 15 minutes drive, you can be hiking on the South West Coast Path, having a family beach day with watersports at Bigbury Beach, or marvelling at the peace and quiet of secluded Wonwell beach. Other beaches such as Thurleston, Hope Cove, South Milton Sands, Mothercombe and Wembury are within half an hour’s drive.
To the North, you can easily ready the vast and beautiful wilderness of Dartmoor National Park. It’s ideal for hiking, letterboxing, rock climbing, and horse riding. Children particularly enjoy climbing the rocky outcrops of Dartmoor’s 300+ tors.
